Shawn is Cloudera's Industry Leader, Health & Life Science. Shawn leads Cloudera’s precision medicine, real world evidence and clinical prediction vision, roadmap and partnerships, and helps customers develop use cases on the business side of research, discovery, and translational
medicine. Shawn co-led the Healthcare & Life Science industry practice at Netezza, and when acquired by IBM was a part of IBM's Public Sector industry practice. Shawn designed a Health Outcomes Analytic Appliance in conjunction with Brigham & Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He has worked with Dr. Paul Grundy, the godfather of patient-centered medical home, on methods to apply analytics to large populations. Shawn has worked in data modeling, metrics, analytics and workflow since 1995. He has advised multiple providers, payers, pharma, and research organizations, and today works to create and participate in public-private partnerships and cross-industry collaborations. Shawn is a member of the International Society of Pediatric Innovation, the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health, as well as a group moderator at the Observational Health Data Sciences & Informatics collaborative. He is a Board Member of Predict Align Prevent, a new program to use predictive analytics to prevent child abuse and neglect. Today, Shawn’s most focused work is on solutions for precision public health, multi-omics, and clinical prediction.
